As the largest provincial association in Carinthia (more than 15,000 members), the Provincial Ski Association headed by Dr. Klaus Pekarek has recently concluded an agreement of cooperation with ALTIS, which envisages support for the athletes in injury prevention and training and in cases of acute complaints.

“ALTIS” was the name of the central site of the Olympic temple, and is today also the synonym for the new Centre for Sports Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Private Clinic Althofen. A team of experienced sports physicians, sports scientists and physiotherapists has been providing expert medical care of the highest level for two years. Both professional and amateur athletes have the possibility of getting treatment, and if necessary also surgery, for injuries of the shoulder, hips, or knees from an expert team of specialists

The Humanomed Centre Althofen and ALTIS, its specialist centre for sports medicine, is now the official partner of the Carinthian ski team in all medical issues. All of the Association’s team members thus have perfect medical care at their disposal whenever necessary – from the monitoring of the training activities and acute care to an operation, if there really is no other option.

“Our goal at ALTIS is to apply the knowledge gained from professional sports to offer all athletes and patients with sports injuries the best and most efficient form of treatment”, says Dr. Georg Lajtai, Medical Director of ALTIS and new official team physician of the Carinthian Ski Association.

The internationally renowned specialist for shoulder and knee surgery knows what he is talking about. After all, more and more national and international professionals, such as ski jumpers Andreas Goldberger and Thomas Morgenstern, mountain bike world record holder Markus Stöckel, Formula 3000 driver Patrick Friesacher, beach volleyball players Nik Berger and Clemens Doppler, and U.S. Olympic winner Dain Blanton, make use of the versatile range of services offered at the Humanomed Centre Althofen.

The objective of the cooperation is to establish an internationally renowned competence centre for skiing in the south of Austria over the next few years. Both the Carinthian Ski Association and the National Ski Association will then be able to use the unique combination of a private clinic with integrated rehab centre and a state-of-the-art fitness area. The Carinthian athletes are thus provided with ideal training conditions in a perfect medical environment that guarantees maximum success for treatments within a short period of time and in a pleasant environment.
